Verse of the Day, and Why I Chose This Verse

Matthew 6:9-13

(The Lord's Prayer)

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.

This prayer is one of the most well known prayers throughout the Bible. I chose this prayer, because it is an example for how we should pray. That doesn't mean that you have to say this specific prayer every single time you pray, because you don't want it to become a habit. Yes, you do want praying to become a habit, but saying the same exact words every time you pray can easily turn into something that is just part of your routine. It can easily turn into something that you're just saying, but you don't really mean. For example, let's say that a relative of yours is very sick. Well, the Lord's Prayer doesn't say, "Please help grandmother to get better!" Does it? But it does say, "Your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." I'm not trying to say that this isn't the perfect prayer, because it is, but you need pray YOUR own prayer in your own words.

Thank you for your time!
