Forgiven

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that at one time or another, we have all struggled with forgiveness. Sometimes that's forgiving someone for something that people have labeled "unforgivable" or something a lot simpler. Either way, it's still important, but that's not quite the path I'm going to take. I don't particularly struggle with forgiving others. One of my biggest things is forgiving myself. I hold myself to the standard of perfection. And guess what? I fail EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. That's why forgiving myself is so hard, but I like the way that Crowder puts it. He says, "Come all saints and sinners, you can't outrun God. Whatever you've done can't overcome the power of the blood." That means that God is still greater.

1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

I'm pretty sure that if He's willing to forgive you, you can forgive too. ;) This makes me think of Paul's "thorn in his side". If you just read a little bit about Paul after his conversion, it's pretty obvious that he wasn't living according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit, (Rom. 8:5) but he still struggled. He probably had a hard time forgiving himself too!

Romans 7:19 says, "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do - this I keep on doing." It sounds to me that Paul had a lot to forgive himself for, just like we do! We know what we're supposed to do, but sometimes the flesh takes over if we're not careful. But that doesn't stop God. God used Paul to write 13 of the 27 books in the New Testament. That's almost half of them! God is still willing to forgive you and me too, because GOD IS LOVE. 1 John 2:12

"I am writing to you, dear children, because your sins have been forgiven on account of His name."
