Just Take A Break

I'm feeling inspired, AGAIN! What is going on???? Anyways, I'm starting this post on Saturday, September 7th, just listening to the waves. This week is our annual beach vacation. This is the perfect time for a break, because we aren't the kind of people who go out and eat every night, and go to amusement parks, and shop on vacation. If that's how you prefer to vacation, awesome, but that's just not us. We do absolutely nothing. Lots of reading, lots of resting, and then we will get out and do something occasionally, but the bulk of our time is spent in the condo or on the beach. We all need breaks. As humans, we are wired to need rest. Even Jesus knows this! We are told in Hebrews 4:10, "For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from His." This sounds nice and simple, but it is actually SUPER hard! Even if we have the time to rest, we want to keep going and not miss a single beat, but we get worn out! I love the beach, but at times, it's hard to be still, and I really miss what's going on back at home. A whole week away is really a lot when you're used to a busy schedule! Now, let's be realistic. I feel confident in saying that none of us can just pick up everything and go to the beach whenever we feel like it. People have jobs, school, commitments, and who's bank account can afford a weekly beach visit? But we can still rest right where we are! Psalm 46:10 says, "He says, 'Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”'

BE STILL.....

Get up a little earlier and listen to worship music, read your Bible, pray, or whatever it is that helps you be still and know that He is God. Matthew 11:28 tells us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Rest is biblical! When Jesus calmed the wind and the waves, His disciples had to wake Him up. He was resting. After his "little break," He was right back to doing the Lord's work, but life is a lot, and it's ok to need to get away from it! Just take a little time and be refreshed.
