A Story????

Prosperous Years

The years that the kingdom had been experiencing had not been the most prosperous years of the kingdom, but these years had not been misery. Their king had been very kind to the people, but he had not always let who he really was show. This story is about this king, and his life. There once lived an evil king, who was very fearful, and was named Pradeepjha. He had a particular knight, which he despised. The king came up with a mission that the knight would never be able to survive. That is how much Pradeepjha disliked his knight. The knight, who was named Apollo, had no idea that the king disliked him so. Actually, Apollo thought that he was the king’s favorite knight! He thought this, because he was sent on all kinds of perilous missions that only a trusted and skilled knight would even think of going on, even if he was asked. Apollo was loved by the people of the town, even more than the king was! This was one of the main reasons that he disliked Apollo. The king thought that his plan was genius! He sent Apollo on this mission, not telling a soul, out of fear.

Apollo walked for many days and nights. His legs ached, but he dared not give up. Finally, Apollo arrived. All he saw in front of him was a cave. It appeared to be very deep, and he got a strange feeling when he approached it. He slowly crept to the mouth of the cave. Just then, he felt a huge rush of wind fly by, and he turned his head, but all he could see was a blurry red thing zoom by, and then fly behind some trees in the nearby wood. He chased after the thing, but it took a very long time to spot the huge creature. When he found it, the creature, which he could now tell was a dragon, was spewing fire in every direction. He dashed towards it, but when he had almost reached the flames, he fell into a hole, which was sadly much too deep to climb out of. He dug around in the hole, trying to find something to help him escape when, there in the hole, laid a sparkling glass bottle. Apollo didn’t know what could possibly be in the bottle, so he didn’t dare drink it. He was dying to test it on something though!

“The dragon!” He exclaimed. He soon found an old rope that would support his weight, so he tied a strong knot to the top of it, and flung the rope on a strong tree root, close to the top of the hole. His plan worked perfectly! He climbed the rope to the top, and raced for the dragon. He quickly opened the bottle, not wanting to use all of the liquid inside, because the liquid might be a very precious thing. He rapidly poured a quarter of the liquid on the dragon. Apollo did not believe what he was seeing! There, right before his eyes, the dragon turned from red, to gold, and he no longer spewed flames out of his mouth, but water, which put out all remaining flames, which he had previously created. Apollo could tell a difference in the dragon’s eyes. They were no longer a hot glare, but a soft, cool glance. Apollo jumped up on the dragon, and rode him back to the kingdom. All of that walking for all of those days and nights had paid off!

When Apollo finally reached the kingdom, he immediately proceeded to the palace. The palace was a very lovely place, and any peasant would have given every last penny to go inside it and stay for a short hour. There were beautifully decorated columns. At the entrance, the ground was made of a beautiful marble that sparkled in the sunlight. The first room that you would spot was the ball room. It was kept clean all the time, and rarely could you even see a speck of dust on anything. The throne room was the next room. There were very large doors leading to it. There were very few things in the vast room. In the middle of the room, on the farthest wall, the king’s throne was positioned. There was a diminutive table next to the throne, which a goblet of pure gold was placed. Once you exited the throne room, there was a beautiful stairway, which had silver railing. There, on the top floor was the king’s bedroom. There was a brass door knob, which was polished daily. The floors in his bedroom were the only wood floors in the whole palace. His bed had four tall posts, which curtains for his bed were attached to. He regularly got new pillows, so that he would never have to sleep on a flat pillow again! His sheets were very soft, and his blanket was thick and white. Since he was on the top floor, he had a window, from which he could see the whole kingdom. When Apollo entered the stunning palace, the king didn’t hear him, so Apollo slowly walked into the throne room. The king still did not know that Apollo was in the palace. Just then, Apollo heard the king’s voice getting closer and closer. He was saying,

“I am so very happy that Apollo will now be out of my hair! He had the death, which I desperately wanted him to have. To be devoured by that dragon! I can’t believe that he fell for it! Now the people will adore me, not that Apollo, whom I so despise.” Apollo was stunned. He fled to go tell someone, and soon, the king was in prison. The king had no heir, so the people wanted Apollo to be the new leader, and so he was, and he once again proceeded to the palace. The years of Apollo’s royal, revered, reign were the most prosperous years of the kingdom.

(The character Pradeepjah is a real person, but he's not an evil king. He is actually a missionary in a foreign country!)
